Lillian Freiman
(1908-1986)
Born in Guelph, Ontario, Freiman studied at the Art Association of Montreal; l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal under Edmont Dyonnet (1923-24); in Paris (1925-1938); and at the Art Studentts' League in New York City (1925).She lived in Paris and Brittany (1925-1938) and in New York City from 1939.Her work was influenced by Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec.Working in oil, watercolour, pastel, coloured chalk and mixed media, she painted crowds, street scenes and the life of music and the theatre.Her work is represented by the NGC, AGO and AGGV.She exhibited with the AAM in 1922.
