William John Hopkinson ARCA OSA ALC CPE CSGA
(1897 - 1970)
Born in London, England, Hopkinson studied under Walter White in London but was mainly self-taught.He came to Ontario in 1912 and lived in Aurora where he later died.He travelled and painted in Massachusetts and the Algoma and Haliburton areas of Ontario.Working in oil, he painted landscapes with barns and marinescapes.He taught at the St. Croix School of Art, New Brunswick, and in Ontario.He exhibited with the RCA in 1945 and held a solo exhibition at the North York Public Library in 1966.
