The Collector's Gallery - Fine Canadian Art

 
Thomas William Fripp AHSA BCSFA
(1864-1931)
Thomas Fripp was born in London, England, and in his youth studied under his father George Arthur Fripp, an esteemed British watercolor painter.He later studied at St. John's Wood Art School in London from 1883-85, the Royal Academy in London (1887-90), and also had some training in France and Italy.
In 1893 Fripp immigrated to British Colombia, and settled in Vancouver c. 1900.He became the first president of the B.C. Society of Fine Arts in 1908, and was known for depicting views of the Rocky Mountains, the Pacific Coast, and the Fraser Valley.
Although he is primarily known as a Canaian artist, he also traveled extensively to Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland and South Africa.
His work is mostly in watercolor and oil, and is owned in a wide variety of public and private collections around the world.
