Biography Diane Krys is a professional textile artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. Her educational background is in Visual Communication, however, a happenstance experience with traditional rug hooking ignited a passion for hand made textiles and forever shifted her creative path. She has a deep interest in using traditional techniques in contemporary ways and has developed her own fibre language by integrating rug hooking, felting and knitting in her two and three dimensional creations. She is recognized for an aptitude for design and an enthusiasm for the witty and surreal. She exhibits in art, fine craft and design arenas. National and International publications have featured her work. Her artwork is held in private collections in Canada and abroad. In 2016 she received Felt::Feutre Canada’s Sculptural Award. In 2016 her work was selected for an Edmonton designer contingent to participate in Toronto’s Design Festival and Brooklyn, New York’s Wanted Design exhibition.

“ These kooky critters seemed to develop their individual personalities as they came together in my hands. As I worked on them I imagined them scampering around and popping up everywhere. They are sweet but a little mischievous too! I hope their big grins are contagious.”
